Gold Coast’s beautiful beachside community of Burleigh Heads was the location of ‘A day out on James’ on the 28th of July. It was a perfect, warm winters day, jam-packed full of entertainment with a village street party atmosphere focusing on Fashion parades, Bands, food and entertainment. Shops from this trendy little fashion hub had the hard working models sashaying and strutting their stuff up and down the catwalk, showing off the wide variety of the years fashion trends available from their stores.
This was a marvellous opportunity for the Kylies Professional team to showcase our chemical free professional Mineral Goddess products and artistic work to the public and a great opportunity for a couple of talented, advanced AICD student Artists to enjoy a fun filled make-up day working closely with experienced industry professionals. We had an open backstage area for the public to view all our artists in Action. The concept proved popular with watchers and artists alike.
Striking colours and prints were in focus on the fashion side so colour became a focus for the looks. Blue and violet were the key make-up colours for our first look. We used Midnight blue liner. A shimmery eyelid. And contoured the eye socket line in an earthy matt brown, applied soft peachy/pink tone to the cheeks. Our Lipstick was brand new with the colour custom created just for the day in a rich deep violet tone. We are definitely including this tone to our Mineral Goddess range and will launch it in the coming weeks!
With minimal time to spend on our second look of the day, we quickly changed our lips to red and toned down our blue liner with a silvery look and blended a stone colour over the eye contour. This was also a preparation for our final look which was a classic 1950’s Pin up girl style. Pin up makeup is so popular and always looks fun. Our pin up look was enhanced by utilising a retro style, winged-out liquid liner, created using a trick of makeup queen extraordinaire, Rae Morris. Sticky tape tip applied to the face and used as a guide to quickly create a perfect straight line. Thank you Rae. This was such a fantastic technique when time is short. We brightened our cheeks and applied a cute little beauty spot. Though we really didn't have the time, we couldn’t resist teasing the hair and creating an oversized dramatic roll for a bit of extra pizzazz.
The girls looked stunning on the catwalk and the Mineral Goddess makeup ‘look’ matched their outfits perfectly - Mission accomplished! We were exhausted but buzzing from the adrenaline and excitement. If it isn’t obvious from the photos, we had such a great time and now can’t wait for our next event.

Selecting a red - Whether light, dark, orangey, or slightly berry-toned, red lips are popping up all over. That's because red lips will never go out of style.
When it comes to the most complementary way to wear red lips, it's all about the undertones. Are you cool or warm? If you're warm with olive or yellow undertones, choose a lipstick with orange or brown tones. (Think brick red or fire-engine red.) If you're cool with pinkish or reddish undertones, pick a red lipstick with blue or pink tones.
